Panhellenic Council
For more than 160 years, Greek life has had and continues to have a significant impact on the DePauw community. Our Greek community is both distinctive and historical, especially as both Alpha Chi Omega and Kappa Alpha Theta sororities were founded here. Today, as about 69 percent of students are affiliated with a Greek letter organization, Greeks are leaders in every distinctive honors program, sports team, organization and club on campus.

Letter from the President
Hello!
I am Courtney Schmidt and will be serving as Panhellenic President for this, the 2007-2008 school year. Greek Life remains one of the strongest uniting factors at DePauw University: over 70% of the student body has sought and found membership in one of the eleven Interfraternity Council chapters, six Panhellenic chapters, four National Pan-Hellenic Council chapters or our National Association of Latino Fraternal Organization chapter.
Whether you are interested in finding a place of your own in the Greek System, are already a member seeking updated information, or simply want to know more about Greek life, please feel free to reference this website for information concerning Fraternity and Sorority life here at DePauw University. Similarly, if you have any questions you may contact me at panhel@depauw.edu, as I am more than happy to help.
Our council anticipates another year in which Greek students will continue to excel in academics, organize and execute highly successful philanthropic and service oriented projects, and will contribute to—or, perhaps even lead—many of our campus’ other organizations and extra-curricular activities. As a council we will carry on with and celebrate the tradition of cooperation that has developed amongst the six National Panhellic Conference (NPC) governed sororities. Each chapter contributes uniquely to campus life through its strong leadership, excellent programming, and rich history. I wish everyone a fulfilling year and a successful recruitment come February 2008.
Sincerely,
Courtney Schmidt ‘08
Panhellenic President

The DePauw Panhellenic Council is the unifying, governing and coordinating organization of the sorority community. The Council consists of one representative from each of the nine sorority chapters at DePauw who meet twice per month to discuss issues pertaining to Greek Life at DePauw. The Panhellenic Executive Board consists of the officers of the Council, which are elected by all chapters in an all-sorority election. Panhellenic provides a communication link between sororities, campus organizations and community leaders. Our programming seeks to encourage personal and chapter enrichment in many different areas such as philanthropy, scholarship, women's issues and overall Greek unity. In addition to all of these opportunities, Panhellenic organizes the Recruitment process, which is the membership selection process of the Greek community. As you experience the Recruitment process, have fun, be confident and do what is best for you. The Panhellenic Office is located in the Union Building, Room 130. We would be happy to answer any questions you may have about Greek Life.
