Residential Policy

The Office of Fraternity and Sorority Life will advise chapter leadership in compliance with the DePauw University Residential Standards set forth for independently owned, Greek chapter facilities.  A copy of the DePauw University Residential Standards can be obtained through each chapter’s assigned Greek Life Coordinator or through the Office of Fraternity and Sorority Life.

The following table provides the DePauw University Residential Standards submissions and deadlines (present through July 31) for chapter leaders:

The Office of Fraternity and Sorority Life also upholds the following policies:

Per the DePauw University Student Handbook, First-Year students are not permitted to reside in Greek living units. Any fraternity or sorority whose procedures are not in accord with this principle may be subject to the Community Standards process.

Any sophomore, junior or senior student who becomes a new member of a Greek organization may in prior to initiation, given the approval of the chapter’s House Corporation Board.

Greek chapter facilities who are under housing capacity may invite unaffiliated students to live in their chapter facilities given the chapter’s House Corporation policies support this, the (inter)national insurance policy covers unaffiliated students and the student is not a First-Year.  The unaffiliated student must meet the requirements of membership eligibility however, should not move in with the intent to affiliate with the Greek chapter. 

Greek chapters are not allowed to house any non-DePauw University student.
