Greek History

DePauw's Greek system began just eight years after the founding of Indiana Asbury College in 1837. A chapter of Beta Theta Pi fraternity was established here in 1845.
Women were first admitted to Indiana Asbury in 1867, when five men's fraternities had chapters on campus. The first sorority soon followed, in 1870, when Kappa Alpha Theta was founded here as the first Greek letter organization for women. Another national sorority, Alpha Chi Omega, was founded here in 1885.
