Introduction to Residence Life & Housing

Our residential system at DePauw includes ten residence halls, multiple theme communities, a unique village of small halls, and over 80 University-owned apartment and house units. We are proud of all of our residential communities and believe that each offers an excellent environment in which to live, learn and grow.

In our communities, residents have the opportunity to become involved in a variety of activities, including the Resident Student Association (RSA), Hall/Neighborhood Councils, and a variety of programs that are planned by the Residence Life staff, RSA, and Hall/Neighborhood Councils.

The residential communities at DePauw are intended to be far more than just places to eat and sleep. However, how much you gain from the opportunities available is largely up to you. Your relationships with other community members and participation in living unit activities can provide you with some of the most significant parts of your collegiate experience. We hope they will also provide you with some of your happiest and most memorable DePauw experiences.

We look forward to a wonderful year in with you, and we wish you the best for a great experience! Please do not hesitate to contact one of our staff members. We greatly value your input and want to hear your thoughts on how we can continue to improve our residential communities in order to better meet the needs of our students.

Supporting Healthy Communities

A necessary part of any healthy college experience is having an environment that is conducive to learning and living. Because DePauw values our students’ rights to have a place to study, sleep, relax and socialize, we work to help students build strong residential communities. Building positive living and learning communities means we:

  • hire and train excellent student leaders to assist students in our halls and neighborhoods
  • maintain clean, safe, and secure physical environments
  • continue to make physical improvements to our residential facilities
  • provide social activities and shared governance opportunities through the Resident Student Association (RSA) and Hall/Neighborhood Councils
  • provide quality services to our residents through direct contact with professional staff members and the Residence Life and Housing office.

At DePauw, our Residence Life student staff works within the individual floors, halls, and neighborhoods to develop communities that uphold and support the tenets of the DePauw University Covenant.
