Quiz Bowl Camp FAQ

How do I get to the dorm where camp is held?
See the Directions Page

If we are going to fly to Greencastle, what should we do?
The closest major airports are Indianapolis or Terre Haute, IN. If you are planning on flying, please contact us with your flight information (arrival time, gate and flight number) so that we can have someone meet you and bring you to DePauw.

Where do we send our registration?
DUCKS Quiz Bowl Camp
U B Box 5859
408 South Locust
Greencastle, IN 46135

Can we have a car at camp?
Only if  you want us to have the keys all week... We decided to not allow campers to have cars for the following reasons:

  1. We didn't want to deal with the possibility of students going off campus (not that any of you would do anything like that).
  2. DePauw is located in the middle of nowhere and it would be a really long.....boring.....drive for most students.
  3. Students won't need a car for camp, and there isn't public parking around the dorm where we are staying.
  4. School liability. (This is the biggest reason)

If there is absolutely no other option, and you must drive, contact Amanda for the driving permission form.  Be prepared to explain why this is the only option, and you will need parental consent over the phone prior to receiving the forms.

Can we have phones in our rooms?
Students are not to have phones at camp, and this includes cell phones.  Phones will be available on the floor for campers to use. The staff will also have phones, which the campers will be able to use. Students should bring calling cards if they plan on using campus phones. In the event of an emergency, parents can contact their child through the staff. Upon arrival, a contact number will be given to parents that they may call at any time. It goes to a cell phone that a member of the staff will have at all times.

What if I have to do laundry or go to Wal-Mart?
The camp is only a week long: you should pack everything you need for the week.  If you have an unexpected need for either of these services, the residence halls are equipped with a laundry room. Trips to Wal-Mart can also be arranged, but try and bring enough clothes to last the whole week.

What if I don't like who I'm rooming with?
Camp, again, is only a week long. Part of the camp experience is learning to be with others. However, we want camp to be a pleasurable experience for everyone. If you discover that you will not be able to get along with your roommate please let the staff know. We should be able to switch people around to make the living arrangements tolerable for everyone.
