What to bring to camp   (Printable checklist: MS Word or HTML )
  • Bed linens : our beds take extra-long twin size sheets. You can also bring a sleeping bag, but it is fairly warm, and a couple sheets should do just fine.
  • Pillows
  • Toiletry items : shower stuff (shampoo, conditioner, soap), toothbrush and toothpaste, hairbrush or comb, etc. You might want to consider shower shoes as well (sandals or flip flops).
  • Alarm Clock: If you want to get up on time, this might be something good to bring.
  • Towels : at the very least a bath towel and washcloth, and you might want to bring an extra towel for swimming.
  • Spending money : $30 should be enough unless you intend to go on a shopping spree at the bookstore
  • Clothing : 7 days worth. It will probably be pretty warm here, so bring clothing that is lightweight and comfortable, and that you can be relaxed during the tournaments and sessions. If you like to exercise, there are facilities for basketball and such, so you may want to bring clothing (and gym shoes, etc.) for that as well.
  • Swimsuit : There is a possibility we will take a trip to the community pool in Greencastle (which has an awesome waterslide), so please bring a swimsuit if you are interested in going.
  • Sports Equipment: volleyball, football, tennis and/or racquetball racket, baseball glove and ball, etc
  • Medication : if you are taking any prescription medication or have emergency medication you may need in the event of an allergic reaction, etc., please bring it with you and tell us where to find it and what to use it for.
  • Fun Stuff: snacks, radios, playing cards, videos/DVDs, cameras (preferably disposable), board games, etc. There is a TV lounge with a VCR and DVD player, just be sure not to bring anything really expensive, because we are not responsible for anything that happens to your items. See below for what NOT to bring.
  • Folder : to hold handouts and schedules: we will be using handouts and other papers for our sessions and you will need a folder or a three-ring binder to keep track of it all. You also want to bring pens and/or pencils for use during the week.
  • Wallet/Purse: Something to hold your keys and card in for the week. Your card will let you into the building and be your meal pass. Remember that if you lose your key, you will be charged $50.
  • Calling card: If you want to call home, bring a calling card. The counselors will have phones, and there is a phone on every floor.

Things NOT to bring:

  • Large amounts of money : There's not a whole heck of a lot to do in Greencastle, and most of what you need is already paid for, so please don't bring a lot of money with you. If, for some reason, you have to bring large amounts of cash, let us know and we will find a safe place to store it.
  • Valuables : Please do not bring anything of great sentimental or monetary value. This is a very safe campus, but we would hate it if something very important to you was lost. Any jewelry, video cameras, digital cameras, expensive electronics, etc. should be left at home.  We are not responsible for lost items.
  • Computer/Game systems: You'll only be here a week, and the Hub does have a computer station where you can check your email. So don't bring computers (this includes laptops!) and game systems. On this note, NO VCRs or DVD players, or TVs. The dorm has a TV lounge for your use.
  • Anything that might be considered offensive: We want to make camp a happy environment for everyone, so don't bring anything lewd, lascivious, or something you think someone else might find offensive - "Think before you pack something". If you have a question regarding something you would like to bring, please contact us .
  • Illegal substances : You are all under age , so please do not even contemplate bringing alcohol, drugs, weapons, etc. with you to camp. The University has a strict policy involving drugs and alcohol and we will not tolerate use of such substances. (Um, duh.)
We will confiscate any items needed, if necessary. It will be held until the end of the camp. By coming to DUCKS camp, you are agreeing to these terms.
