Driver's Safety Program

Successful completion of the Driver's Safety Program is a REQUIREMENT of any student who drives a vehicle for University-related purposes. This is also true for vehicles obtained from the University Service Center, rental vehicles for University purposes, the Hartman Civic Center, etc.

Once a student fulfills the requirements, he/she is placed on a list of qualified drivers. This is basically a one-time requirement, students do not have to repeat the process annually.

DETAILS ABOUT THE PROCESS

Faculty or Staff personnel that wish to have a student certified to drive a University owned vehicle should arrange with the students to attend a training session. The Driver's Safety Program will be held every Sunday at 8:00 p.m. the training session will be held in room 221 of the Union Building. There will be a maximum of 20-25 people in a training session.  Students should check in at the Public Safety Office in room 200.

Anyone taking the training will simply need to bring a pen or pencil and their valid driver's license.  Major violations will prohibit a person from becoming certified to drive University owned vehicles.

The training will take approximately 2-3 hours.  Please call Public Safety at 765-658-4261 or x.4261, or email at police@depauw.edu if you have any questions.

The new program is focused on van driving, but includes safety information applicable to all other forms of driving, as well.
