Pandemic Emergencies

Planning for Pandemic Emergencies

DePauw is working to be as prepared as possible to address a potential flu pandemic.

DePauw has a Critical Incident Protocol that guides our response to emergencies.  We are revising these procedures to be sure they are suitable for dealing with health emergencies such as a flu pandemic.  Revisions will incorporate guidelines established by the Federal Centers for Disease Control (in Atlanta), the Federal Department of Health and Human Services, the Indiana State Health Department, and the Putnam County Health Department.

While our primary efforts are directed toward ensuring the health and well-being of all members of the community, planning efforts are also underway to develop a comprehensive recovery plan that addresses any disruptions in our educational programs or other University operations (for individuals or the University as a whole).

A vital component of our planning, coordination and response procedures is developing alternative modes of communication to reach employees, students and their families.  We are developing a variety of communication methods, including this website, hotlines, use of local and campus media, email blasts, telephone trees, and contact representatives.  We hope you will visit this site often for updated information.
