Apply for Parking Permit On Line
All Students Must Register Their Vehicles
All vehicles kept in Greencastle by any student, whether temporarily or
throughout the school year, must be registered and must properly display a
DePauw student parking permit. This pertains to all students, regardless of
their situations, i.e., Greencastle residents, Putnam County residents,
fraternity/sorority members, commuters, students taking a limited number of classes,
etc.
Requirements for Vehicle Registration
To register a vehicle a student must present the following:
- Student ID;
- Vehicle Information containing license plate number, State and Year of issue
Location and Hours for Vehicle Registration
You may register your vehicle on line through your e-services account.
Click
Here. Or you may apply for your permit at the DePauw University Public Safety
Office, located on the second floor of the Memorial Student Union Building, in
suite #200. Since the Public Safety Office is a 24-hour operation and the
issuance of tickets can happen at any time, students may register their vehicles
or appeal their tickets at any time of the day or night.
Cost of Parking Permit and Privileges
The cost of DePauw student parking privileges is $20 for the 2005-2006 academic
year. All permits are nontransferable. If, for any reason, a student brings
a vehicle to campus other than the one originally registered, that vehicle
must also be registered. The cost of registering a second vehicle, and any
thereafter, is $5. If a vehicle is on campus on a temporary basis (one month or
less,) a temporary permit, valid for one month, costs $2.
Payment for Permit
The permit fee of $20 will automatically be charged to the student's account
upon vehicle registration.
All Student Parking Permits are Nontransferable
If a permit is transferred to a vehicle other than the one to which it is
registered, the vehicle will be cited for having no valid permit or for the
improper display of a permit.
Proper Display of Permit
All student permits should be affixed on the rear glass in the lower left
(driver's side) corner. If a permit is displayed elsewhere, unless the vehicle
comes under one of the exceptions listed below, the result could be a ticket
issued for improper display of permit. All permits are required to be affixed and
completely visible.
Exceptions: If a vehicle has a legitimate exception, such as a dark tint on
the rear glass or a convertible top which would make the permit's visibility
on the rear glass impossible, the permit should be affixed on the front
windshield in the lower left (driver's side) corner.
Obtaining, Receiving and Displaying Improper Permits
Obtaining a parking permit for another student is wrong and will be treated as
such. Any students found to be supplying, receiving or displaying improper
permits will be subject to fines and an appearance before a judicial board for
disciplinary purposes.
Use of Upperclass Vehicles by First-Year Students
First-year DePauw students are prohibited from using upperclass students'
vehicles to obtain parking privileges that exceed those granted to first-year
students. Any students who wrongly uses upperclass vehicles, or who permit
their use, will be subject to fines and an appearance before a judicial board for
disciplinary purposes.
Use of Faculty/Staff or other Non-Student Permitted Vehicles by DePauw Students
DePauw students are prohibited from using another's vehicle to obtain parking
privileges that exceed those granted to students. Examples are as follows:
- a DePauw student, work-study or otherwise, using a DePauw faculty/staff
permitted vehicle;
- a DePauw student using the faculty/staff permitted vehicle of their
DePauw-employed parent(s).
Simply parking such a vehicle would be a violation in that no DePauw student
parking permit would be visible. Also, if the student were to park in a
faculty/staff parking area, that student would be parked in a restricted area
(as defined by the student's status.) Such violators will be subject to fines
and an appearance before a judicial board for disciplinary purposes.
