Violation of Student Parking Regulations
Any student(s) determined to be in violation of DePauw student parking
regulations will be subject to disciplinary action such as fines,
impoundment of vehicle, an appearance before a judicial board, revocation
of driving privileges on campus, or a meeting with the Dean of Student.
Types of Violations and Associated Fines
Following are the violations for which one can be cited, along with the
associated fines. Many of the violations are towable offenses.
Those listed on the ticket:
| No Valid Permit /Improperly displayed permit |
$25 |
| Yellow Curb/Hashed Area Violation |
$25 |
| Parked in a Restricted Area |
$25 |
| Improper Parking Violations |
$25 |
| Handicapped Violation (Street or Lot) |
$50 |
| Fraudulent Use of a Ticket |
$50 |
Violations Determined at a Later Time (Resulting in Fines, Impoundment
and/or Strict Disciplinary Action):
- Falsifying a permit (creating a DePauw student or non-student permit
for one's use on campus)
- Obtaining, receiving and displaying improper permits
- Use of upperclass vehicles by first-year students
- Use of faculty/staff or other non-student permitted vehicles by
students
Additional Violations and Fines:
Upon any "new" attempt to circumvent the DePauw student parking regulations such
as using a previously issued ticket,
the University has the right to hold accountable the student(s) involved in a
manner that is consistent with the current regulations. This is done by way of
fines, vehicle impoundment and/or an appearance before the Judicial Board for
disciplinary purposes.
Responsibility for Violations/Tickets
Students are responsible for any violations of University parking regulations
involving the vehicle(s) they own or have registered on campus. Upon the fourth
ticket issued to a student's vehicle, whether or not the tickets have been paid,
the vehicle is subject to being towed without written notice. If a student registers
more than one vehicle in an academic year, it is the total number of tickets issued
to the student that is the focus, not the total number of tickets issued to each
vehicle.
Payment of Tickets
A student who is issued a ticket must pay it at the Cash Receipts Office,
lower level of the Administration Building, within five business days. Parking fines will be billed with
the student's University Account.
