Signature Leadership Programs
Accepting the Challenge (ATC)
Accepting the Challenge is the annual leadership workshop held for first-year students. The theme for ATC this past year was “Discovering the Leader in You.” During the workshop, students have the opportunity to network with upperclass leaders, learn how to get involved on campus and get leadership goals. Leaders were also able to examine how their leadership practices relate to their personal values and set goals for their future leadership endeavors.
Essentials for Leadership (EFL)
Essentials for Leadership is a leadership series geared toward first-year students that takes place in October and November. Students work with the upperclass student leaders and student services staff to strengthen basic leadership practices.
Leadership Lessons at Lunch
Leadership Lessons at Lunch is a leadership series geared toward sophomores. By attending a sight week series that meets every Thursday from 12:15-1:15 p.m., a small group of sophomores are able to further develop specific leadership skills. Topics include: public speaking, organizational skills, goal setting and determining a vision for your organization, leadership opportunities on campus, running a meeting, setting an agenda, event planning, budgeting, working with upperclass students and maintaining balance.
Fall and Spring Leadership Retreats
Students who will be participating in key leadership roles on campus are invited to participate in an off campus retreat in September and April to discuss challenges student leaders face, develop strategies to tackle these challenges, and to develop goals for their leadership positions.
