| Anniversary of Virginia Tech tragedy |
|
Today, April 16th, marks the first anniversary of the tragic campus shootings at Virginia Tech University. In addition to countless others, this tragedy continues to impact members of the DePauw community in direct and indirect ways. Anniversaries like this can also arouse feelings and reactions to similar occurrences, like the shootings at Northern Illinois University in February and other events, which also touch many in our community.
In honor of the anniversary, the Sanctuary at Anderson Street Hall will be open all day for any person or group to have a quiet space for reflection, prayer, mourning or remembrance. There will also be an "open journal" for anyone to record their thoughts or feelings. As always, please remember the campus resources that can offer support, including the Wellness Center and Center for Spiritual Life.
Our thoughts and prayers remain with the families, loved ones and numerous communities that are still being affected by this and similar tragedies.
