| Living Theatre Residency: A Day in the Life of Greencastle |
|
Friday, March 14
7:30 p.m.
GCPA, Kerr Theatre
Saturday, March 15
7:30 p.m.
GCPA, Kerr Theatre
The Living Theatre is one of the most provocative, dangerous, and thought-provoking experimental theatre groups of the last fifty years. Founded by Judith Malina and Julian Beck in 1947, they continue to perform internationally, from Eastern Europe to Brazil, ever pursuing their goal of enacting the "Beautiful Nonviolent Anarchist Revolution" through theatre. Long-time members of The Living Theatre, Jerry Goralnick and Lois Kagan-Mingus, will lead a week-long workshop which culminates in two performances which are by, for, and about our Greencastle community. Local workshop performers determine content and shape of the scenes, and audience members are invited (but not confronted) to participate in the ongoing dialogue that these scenes engender. This is a return engagement for The Living Theatre, who offered this workshop at DePauw in 2005 to packed houses. The workshop will run March 9 - 15, with performances open to the public on Friday and Saturday, March 14 and 15, 7:30 p.m. in the Kerr Theater.
If you would like to be involved with the workshop, please contact Tim Good at tgood@depauw.edu. NOTE: If you would like to have a Living Theatre member visit your class, please contact Tim Good at tgood@depauw.edu.
