Critical Incident Response Team

During emergency situations, such as a fire, severe weather incident, hazardous materials event, or any critical incident, the University “Critical Incident Response Team” (CIRT), will be activated by the Director of Public Safety (or designee). This group brings together key university leadership to facilitate prompt assessment and confirmation of a critical incident, initiate emergency notification, while mounting immediate and comprehensive response specific to the emergency situation. Key goals of this group beyond community safety is continuity of operations, crisis communications, and disaster recovery.

  • Armed intruder
  • Outbreak of serious infectious illnesses
  • Terrorist incident
  • Earthquake
  • Bomb threat
  • Major gas leak
  • Explosion
  • Chemical or hazardous waste spill
  • Other incidents or circumstances considered dangerous or posing imminent safety risk
