Giving Tree

The Civic Fellows, a program the Office of Civic Engagement with the Hartman House, is once again proud to be a co-sponsor of The Giving Tree, the annual holiday program that provides much need clothing items, special needs gifts, and other wished-for toys to children in our community. As a co-sponsor, Civic Fellows facilitates the program’s efforts on DePauw’s campus. With the cooperation of DePauw offices, departments, and organizations last year we provided for more than 80 local families.

This is a wonderful opportunity to spread goodwill and holiday cheer to others. Whether your group has five dollars or five hundred dollars to give, The Giving Tree needs and wants your help. Here is how you can get involved:

  1. Fill out the enclosed Giving Tree Interest Sheet here.
  2. A member of Civic Fellows will contact you via civicfellows@depauw.edu with timeline for your Giving Tree contribution.

There are two ways to participate in this service project. Offices and organizations wishing to sponsor a family and purchase gifts will be matched with a family according to the organization’s ability to assist. You will receive your family assignments and a more detailed description of your duties from civicfellows@depauw.edu. The gifts you purchase will need to be delivered, unwrapped, to the Hartman House located at 500 E. Seminary St.

We hope this program will grow to sponsor more families than in years past. With your help, DePauw University can continue to make a difference in the lives of Putnam County families.

Please contact civicfellows@depauw.edu or Matt Cummings, Coordinator of Community Service and Outreach, at matthewcummings@depauw.edu with any questions about the program.
