Your first semester as a university student in the United States presents you with exciting opportunities and new challenges. International Student Orientation helps degree-seeking and exchange students adjust to their new academic and social environment.

International Student Orientation

The next International Student Orientation sessions begin on

  • Monday, August 15, 2016 for new international students entering DePauw in the Fall 2016 semester. This Fall 2016 orientation lasts from August 15-19, 2016.

International Student Orientation is required for all new international students.  During International Student Orientation, students will have additional time they need to settle into life on campus and in the US, learn about their requirements for maintaining valid immigration status, get familiar with important staff and resources and establish initial friendships.  All international students are required by DePauw and by the US Department of Homeland Security to report to campus on the first day of international student orientation, which is indicated in the admission letter to DePauw.  Events and topics covered during International Student Orientation include:

  • Welcome Celebration reception
  • Campus and Greencastle tours
  • Academic culture and expectations
  • English Language assessment and placement
  • Immigration information sessions
  • Opening a bank account
  • Employment information
  • Health insurance orientation

The week also promises fun, with picnics, movie nights, group activities and shopping trips. By the end of the week, international students will be ready to begin their first semester as DePauw students.
