Wellness Advocate Program
Each year the Wellness Center seeks to hire 4-6 DePauw students to be a part of a team called the Wellness Advocates. Below is an overview of this position and how to apply.
Details of the position:
One full academic year commitment (August-May)
Paid opportunity for 5 hours per week (1 hour weekly meeting, 2 hours outreach prep time, 2 hours outreach)
Duties of the Wellness Advocate:
Provide outreach programming on physical and mental health topics to the campus community.
Foster personal and professional development among the Advocates by promoting the development of leadership skills through training, program planning and program implementation designed to reach students across a variety of backgrounds and traditions with important physical health and psycho-educational information.
Co-present several programs with a staff member during the fall and spring semesters.
Refine existing programs and/or establish new programs as decided by the Wellness Center staff.
Learn information related to a variety of physical and psychological issues.
Learn or improve public speaking skills and will learn how to manage a small audience.
Learn different presentation styles and ways to adjust their personal speaking style to accommodate the different demands of those presentation styles.
Learn the importance of collaboration in a university environment and will get opportunities to plan and present programs with various university constituencies.
Attend a training session in late spring and early in the fall semester to become familiar with the Wellness Center, the services provided and the staff of the Center.
That time will also be used to begin the learning process of the different types of programs offered and the various topics that will be presented.
Wellness Advocates will begin outreach programming upon return in the Fall semester. The same applies for return after Winter Term.

How to Apply
Students should submit a Wellness Advocate Application Application by April 8, 2016 to be considered for an interview. Interviews are scheduled to begin on April 11, 2016.
