Information about arrival dates & hall closings for current students living in university-owned housing

| Saturday, August 18, 2012 | Opening Day for first-year students. Check-in from 8:00 AM to 12:00 PM |
| Sunday, August 19, 2012 | Opening Day for upper class students. Check-in from 8:00 AM to 3:00 PM |
| Saturday, October 13 - Sunday, October 21, 2012 | Fall Break: All housing remains open. |
| Wednesday, November 21 - Sunday, November 25, 2012 | Thanksgiving Break: Some students will need to remain on campus during the Thanksgiving Break. |
| Friday, December 14, 2012 - Wednesday, January 2, 2013 | Winter Break: Residence halls, including Rector Village, close at 6:00 PM on December 14 and reopen at 12 PM on January 2, 2013. Students who wish to apply for an extension until 9am on December 15 must do so in the Campus Living office in Anderson Street Hall by December 7, 2012. University Owned Houses & Apartments remain open. For safety and security purposes, we require that all University-Owned Apartments and Houses complete the following a form for their unit, indicating whether or not residents and/or any guests will be remaining on campus over break. Here is a link to the Winter Break Closing Form. Please remember, you are to abide by all of the University policies as well as Campus Living & Community Development policies. If you are in violation of any of these policies, you may be asked to leave campus immediately. You may also be required to leave if you have a guest without an approved request. Students in University-Owned Apartments and Houses may not register events at which alcohol will be present during the break period (Friday, December 14 to Wednesday, January 2). |
| Saturday, March 23 - Sunday, March 31, 2013 | Spring Break: All housing remains open. |
| Thursday, May 16, 2013 | End of the Year Closing: Residence halls and Rector Village close at 6:00 PM for students not participating in commencement*. Students who wish to apply for an extension until 9:00 AM on Friday, May 17 must do so in the Campus Living & Community Development Office by May 10. |
| Monday, May 20, 2013 | End of the Year Closing: All University housing closes at 11:00 AM |
*Residence halls are used for housing families of graduating seniors during commencement weekend and therefore must be closed immediately following the end of exams for students not participating in commencement in order to prepare rooms for the weekend.
