Deadlines & Tasks to Complete for First-Year Students

All incoming students must complete the following by the deadlines indicated. Please note that some of these tasks cannot be completed until later in the summer.

  1. Submit first-year seminar requests.  Instructions are currently available in your portal in e-Services.
         (Submit between May 20-June 19). 
  2. Complete a housing request form through Residence. Instructions are currently available in your portal in e-Services. To log in to Residence, use your full DePauw e-mail address as your username, and your DePauw network password will be your password. You will need to allow 24 hours after you establish your net work password before it will work in Residence. If you have questions, please email Campus Living and Community Development.
         (Complete between May 20 - June 19).

  3. Complete a Student Health Record Form and mail it to DePauw Health. Students must have this form submitted in entirety in order to register for classes. Details on the immunization policy can be found here.
         (Complete by July 1).

  4. Follow these steps to make your Student ID.
         (Do by July 1). 

  5. Request that your final high school transcript be sent to the Office of Admission. Questions can be directed to the Office of Admission at 765-658-4006.
         (Submit by July 1). 

  6. Purchase a laptop and complete the student technology checklist.
         (Prior to arriving on campus). 

  7. Verify that you have health insurance that is valid in central Indiana. It is highly recommended that students carry health insurance. Evidence of insurance is required for participation in intercollegiate athletics. If you need insurance, please visit or call 1-800-318-2596.
         (Prior to arriving on campus).  

  8. Complete the online survey, "What is it like to come to DePauw?" Instructions are available in your portal in e-Services.
         (Complete between June 15-29; the deadline has been extended to 5 p.m. on July 3.).

  9. Complete the Writing Assessment. To complete this assessment you will read four short articles (4-5 pages each) and write two brief essays (700-1200 words, and 500 words). These will not be graded or used for placement, but rather will be used to help you and the DePauw faculty develop the best practices for improving your writing skills. Please look at this assessment as a serious, but fun challenge. Instructions will be available in your portal in e-Services on July 7.  
         (Complete between July 7- August 5).
  10. Complete the Making Healthy Choices modules. Instructions are now available in your portal in e-Services. 
         (Complete between August 6-17).
