Spring New Student Orientation
Welcome, New Students! For the Spring 2021 Semester, please see the information below to start your transition to DePauw.
After being admitted to DePauw University, new or transfer first-year students should contact JC Lopez, Associate Dean of Experiential Learning and Director of Co-curricular Programs for First-Year Students and sophomore transfer students should contact Jeannette Johnson-Licon, Associate Dean of Experiential Learning and Director of Sophomore Co-curricular Programs. They will talk you through items you need to complete prior to arriving on campus and will answer any questions you have.
New students for Semester II are required to attend a virtual New Student Orientation, which will take place during Winter Term (January 4 - January 31).
An in-person New Student Orientation Schedule will be provided prior to your arrival on campus.

Student ID INFORMATION

Follow these steps to make your Student ID. Your student id will be provided to you during your residence hall check-in and arrival. This must be completed by Monday, January 11, 2021.
Immunization & Insurance Records

Students are required to provide proof of personal health insurance or they will be automatically enrolled in a policy provided by the University and their student account will be charged. Students with personal health insurance/those not wishing to be enrolled in the University insurance should complete a waiver at www.eiia.org/institution/depauw-university by February 5, 2021.

Students must also provide their immunization records through Med+Proctor (https://www.medproctor.com/depauw-university-immunization). Additionally, students will be required to show proof of a recent influenza vaccination; more information on how to provide this documentation will be provided in additional correspondence related to spring term COVID-19 health protocols. Questions on insurance and immunizations should be directed to steviebaker-watson@depauw.edu.
Language Placement Exam
Complete your Language Placement Exam by Monday, Jan. 18, prior to your meeting with your academic advisor.
Most students are required to take two semesters of a language, either continuing with a language previously studied or beginning a new language. Consult the Global Language Requirement and Placement page to complete the Language Placement Exam and find information about exemptions. Access CASHNet and create a Third Party PIN for parents/guardians or third parties needing access to your billing account for invoicing and payment of your student account balance. Instructions are available online here and in your portal in e-Services. Questions can be directed to the Cash Receipts Office at 765.658.4015.

STUDENT ACCESSIBILITY SERVICES ACCOMMODATION MEETINGS
Students who plan to seek accommodations from Student Accessibility Services should schedule an appointment to meet with Meggan Johnston, director of Student Accessibility Services.
Students who are seeking academic, housing, or dietary accommodations should contact the Student Accessibility Services Office at studentaccessibility@depauw.edu. The process of seeking accommodations can be found here. Accommodation meetings will be held via Google Meet with the Director of Student Accessibility Services.

WHAT TO DO PRIOR TO YOUR ARRIVAL TO CAMPUS
HEALTH AND SAFETY GUIDELINES
Health and Safety Guidelines: the wellbeing of the entire DePauw community as its highest priority, and in line with DePauw University’s core and relational values, the DePauw COVID-19 Health and Safety Committee has developed campus health and safety recommendations and requirements in response to the COVID-19 Pandemic that students, faculty, and staff are expected. PREPARING YOUR "GO-BAGS"
Students should prepare a “go bag” that remains packed and ready in case they are instructed to move to a location for self-quarantine or self-isolation purposes*.
This “go bag” should include:
1. Four to five days of comfortable clothes
2. Toiletries
3. A plate, cup, bowl, and set of silverware
4. Activities (book, coloring book, origami paper, something that will bring you joy)
5. Preferred snacks (meals will be provided, but you can bring your own snacks if you have favorites)
6. A list of other last-minute things to grab pinned to the top of your “go bag.” This list should include:

Your Personal Medical Kit

Cell phone and charger (You must have a way to communicate with University and health officials and 911 if you are moved to isolation or quarantine housing.)

Computer and other technology needs

Items necessary for e-learning, such as books, notebooks, etc.

Any medicines prescribed by a doctor.

CAMPUS MASK USAGE + PERSONAL MEDICAL ITEMS TO BRING
DePauw University requires medical masks, cloth face coverings, or non-medical masks inside University-owned spaces. Three (3) DePauw masks will be provided to students. Employees are required to wear cloth face coverings or non-medical masks, except when in their own private work areas with no one else present. Students are required to wear cloth face coverings or non-medical masks, except when they are in their own private room. For additional information on Community Mask Usage please visit here. Prior to arriving on campus, all students are required to have a medical kit which includes the following items in their University residence:
- Digital thermometer;
- Minimum of three washable, reusable cloth masks that fit appropriately;
- Hand sanitizer that includes at least 60% alcohol (16 oz., refillable as needed);
- Fever reducer/pain reliever (e.g., Acetaminophen, Ibuprofen); and,
- Disinfectant wipes (2 containers, approximately 150 wipes)
HEALTH AND SAFETY MODULES
All new students will receive access to this information and educational module.
All students, faculty and staff will participate in required online education that includes information about the virus that causes COVID-19 and DePauw’s Pandemic Health Practice Recommendations and Requirements for the duration of the COVID-19 pandemic, including rationale for these Recommendations and Requirements. Education must be completed by each student, faculty and staff member prior to being on-campus. Additional education will be provided and occasionally required throughout the academic year, on an ongoing basis.
The completion of these modules is due January 2021.
