How to access Counseling Services for an emergency situation

In case of an emergency, email should NOT be used. Rather, a student should come to the office or call the office if it is during office hours, or contact Public Safety (765-658-4261) if it is after hours.

When an emergency occurs during office hours (Monday-Friday, 9 a.m. – Noon or 1-5 p.m.)

1. Call Counseling Services at 765-658-4268.

2.  Identify the situation as an emergency.

3. The receptionist will arrange an appointment or telephone consultation with a counselor.

When an emergency occurs outside of office hours or during the weekend

1. Call DePauw Public Safety at 765-658-4261.

2. Identify the situation as an emergency.

3. The dispatcher will either have a counselor contact the student immediately or make a referral to a 24-hour crisis hotline service.

Students may also choose to use off campus resources.
