President Mikhail Gorbachev's Ubben Lecture
Thursday, October 27, 2005

Former Russian President Mikhail Gorbachev delivered a speech as part of DePauw's Ubben Lecture Series to a packed Lilly Center on Thursday, October 27. He stressed themes of international cooperation, especially with regard to poverty, hunger, and disease. WGRE was able to take two pictures of the event.

President Gorbachev (left) talking into a WGRE microphone held by Asst News Director Jessie Hemmelgarn. Gorbachev's translator is on the right side of the photo, while DePauw President Robert G. Bottoms can be seen in the background.

Members of DePauw's student media, including WGRE News Director Lisa Chambers (third from left) each had the chance to ask President Gorbachev (right) a question.
