Join us for DePauw's annual celebration of the arts showcasing the creative and performing arts talents of members of the DePauw community and visiting artists. Celebrating its 6th year, ArtsFest 2008: Art & Borders will include art that explores the intensifying global debate over the parameters of national, cultural and intellectual identities. ArtsFest 2008: Art & Borders opens on Thursday, October 30 and continues through Sunday, November 9, 2008. 

 

 

 

Events include concerts, theatre performances, art exhibitions, readings, films and lectures such as:

  • Sones de Mexico: A captivating Mexican folk music ensemble
  • The Fence:  A campus-long border of artistic expression
  • Silent film The Phantom of the Opera interpreted by organist John Schwandt
  • Natural Selection:  DePauw Theatre's futuristic look at extinction
  • Mexican poet Gaelle Le Calveg
  • DePauw Symphony Orchestra
  • Award-winning Chicano writer Dagoberto Gilb
  • Art exhibition by Cuban-born visual and performing artist Felipe Dulzaides
  • Persepolis:  A female coming-of-age story set in modern Iran
  • The Laugh in Peace Tour: A comedy routine featuring one jew, one muslim, and one evangelical christian
  • Art Attack - A day of free art activities, performances and workshops for children
