2007:  ART & THE ENVIRONMENT

Join us for the annual celebration of the arts at DePauw University showcasing the creative and performing arts talents of members of the DePauw community and visiting artists. This year's timely theme, Art & the Environment, focuses on art inspired by, occurring in, and a challenge to environments natural and unnatural, expected and surprising. ArtsFest 2007: Art & the Environment opens on Thursday, October 25 and continues through Sunday, November 4, 2007. 

 

 

Events include concerts, theatre performances, art exhibitions, readings, films and lectures such as:
  • Re•Cycling Art - an all-campus public art/community bike project (Go HERE for information and design proposal form)
  • Environmental Sculptor Patrick Dougherty - an installation built by DePauw volunteers
  • Orpheus Chamber Orchestra - presented in dedication of the Judson and Joyce Green Center for the Performing Arts
  • DePauw Theatre - Steve Here, a new play by professor Steve Timm
  • DePauw New Music Ensemble - Replacing Music
  • Film Studies - Who Killed the Electric Car? , a documentary addressing issues of renewable energy
  • Peeler Galleries - Beyond Green: Toward a Sustainable Art
  • Kelly Writers Series - Award-winning environmental poet Barbara Ras
  • Quarry Sounds - an itinerant concert in the DePauw Nature Park
  • Art Attack - a day of free art activities, performances and workshops for children
