WHAT
The Student Arts Council along with co-sponsorship from the Environmental Club, Bike Club, and the Arts Coordinating Council are bringing to campus one hundred (that’s right, 100!) new, single-speed bicycles for community decoration and use. Remember the decorated tigers? Same idea. But this time, you can ride on the art - indefinitely. The bikes are community bikes. Ride’em to class. Take one to the Nature Park. Go to Kroger or Fine Print. And when you’re done, leave it in a rack for someone else to enjoy.
WHY
To promote art and a more environmentally friendly campus.
WHEN
The bikes will be introduced to campus on Thursday, October 25, the opening day of ArtsFest 2007: Art & the Environment. Those who decorate a bike will be invited to participate in the kick-off bike parade and cookout (food!).
GET INVOLVED
There are three ways to get involved:
1. Enter a design proposal. Do it yourself, or get your house involved, your department, your organization, your class, your housemates, or your pals. Additional information and detailed criteria for entering a proposal is on the proposal forms available at the Campus Life Office or depauw.edu/arts/artsfest/recyclingart/proposal.pdf .
2. Co-sponsor the project. The project is seeking financial support for this campus-wide event, and our goal is to get sponsorships from every organization, department, and division on campus. See the value of this great project, and become a sponsor.
3. Enter a design proposal AND co-sponsor the project. The best choice!
