D3TV would like to use the money from underwriting for various types of promotional items. With budgets being especially tight, it is important for us as students to recognize the growth of the station and take measures to ensure that this growth continues in a positive direction, utilizing all of our resources to the fullest.
Below you will find a list of the things that the underwriting funding would help us to purchase and the reason why each of these purchases contributes to the image of the station.
In order for our station to get its name out we must provide items with logos so that we can advertise for giveaways and use during various interest fairs. Pens are one of the most used items by students and staff, and having pens creates a positive and visible image of D3TV on campus. We need more money to purchase pens and similar promotional items so that we can further the number of people who are aware of D3TV.
We ordered t-shirts last year and we have seen an enormous response to them. Everyone who works for the station would like to own one of these shirts, but we can hardly keep them in stock. We currently do not have enough money to buy more t-shirts.
The promotions team is interested in promoting a more professional look for the station as part of our overall growth strategy. We plan to increase visibility with students and staff through press releases and promotional packets. These things would also help us to promote a professional image to the residents and businesses, which we approach in Greencaslte as well as when we attend conferences nationwide. We currently have designed stationary, be we need more money to purchase folders.
By having money we can create a separate look for each show and create a way for students to get what they need for each show. With our rate of growth and the current funding situation it is possible that the station will not be able to fund some of these materials for shows. Underwriting funding could fund the excess in this case.
We feel that shows who have consistently produced and have a fan base should be able to promote themselves. Just as in the real world, shows need to have a solid audience and actively work to promote the show to others who would be interested.
D3TV could use the money gained from the Underwriting Program to help off-set costs within the following areas: student film and television festivals, entry fees for conventions, subscriptions to trade magazines, and programmin acquisitions. These areas are very important to D3TV and help enrich the programming and overall quality of our station.
