for Projects
The project-based workshop will focus on linking teaching methods to course goals. It will include plenary sessions, mini-courses, and opportunities to participate in discussion sessions. Participants will have plenty of structured time to work on their project and receive one-on-one help from FITS staff & student interns. Additionally, facilities will be available for rehearsals & discussion groups. By the end of the workshop, you will have acquired the skills and developed a plan to implement effective use of technology for some aspect of a course you teach. You'll also acquire familiarity with the resources (staff, hardware & software) available to support that project after the workshop is over. WORKSHOP DATES:
WHO SHOULD ATTEND: Faculty from all disciplines are encouraged to participate to stimulate discussion & solutions to common challenges of teaching, particularly those that involve technology. All faculty members are welcomed regardless of technology background. However, space is limited and registrations will be evaluated on feasibility of each proposed project. Faculty who attend will receive a stipend of $600. HOW TO REGISTER: Registration must include a brief description (up to 600 words) of a mini-project you will use in a course during the 2003-3004 academic year. A mini-project might range from creating a Web presence for an entire course to incorporating technology into one class meeting. Proposals should include the pedagogical objectives for the project, those technical skills you plan to hone and the pedagogical methods you hope to enhance by participating in the workshop. Both solo & collaborative projects are welcomed. Suggestions for topics include, but are not limited to:
