Collaboratory for GIS and Mediterranean Archaeology (CGMA)
CGMA, an on-going teaching and research initiative supported by the Mellon Foundation, is overseen by Dr. Foss and Dr. Schindler. The project ultimately provides an on-line queryable GIS of archaeological survey projects in the Mediterranean.

Acid Mine Drainage
Dr. Jerz is examining the area around the abandoned Green Valley Coal Mine. She's planning to analyze the area's water chemistry both spatially and temporally, and ultimately wants to study the mine drainage impact on the regional environment and ecology.

Glen Kuecker

Socioeconomic Development of Tampico, Mexico
Dr. Kuecker is using GIS in his book project on the process of modernization in 19th Century Tampico, a port city on the gulf coast of Mexico. GIS allows Dr. Kuecker to map tax and property records for the city, and show social and economic change over time from 1870 to 1910.

Environmental Effects on Violet Species
Dr. Serlin is researching the environmental factors affecting the type of flowers produced by species of violets native to Indiana.

Beth Wilkerson

DePauw Nature Park
DePauw contracted the Schneider Corporation to survey the DePauw Nature Park area. Beth is in the process of extracting data layers from the CAD files received from the Schneider Corporation, exporting the data layers to shapefiles, and spatially locating the exported data so that the data may be used with other georeferenced data in ArcGIS and other GIS-related software.
