Make A Difference Week 2007

Monday October 22 - Saturday October 27, 2007

This year’s Putnam County Make a Difference Day consists of a non-perishable food drive benefiting the Putnam County Emergency Food Pantry.  The Emergency Food Pantry serves the entire county and has provided for hundreds of households.  In 2005, the MADD food drive collected a total of 1,482 canned goods.  We challenge the community to reach 2,000 this year!

All Putnam County residents can make a difference all week long, from Monday, October 22nd to Friday, October 26th, by participating in the city-wide food drive.  Donation sites are: National City Banks, First National Bank, Old National Bank, Wal-Mart, Kroger, Hanks Deli, Putnam County Senior Center, and the Hartman House. Community members are also highly encourage to organize their own food drives at their offices, schools, and organizations.  For more information on how to plan a food drive, click here.Make a difference

If you are unable to visit any of the donation sites, DePauw’s Civic Fellows and Bonner Scholars will bejoining efforts to Trick or Treat for canned goods on Saturday, October 27th from 10am to 12pm

All community members are invitedto share in a Make A Difference Day Celebration at the Senior Center from 10 am to 12pm on Saturday, October 27th.  Visit the Emergency Food Pantry (inside the Senior Center) to see the difference your efforts have made and enjoy a brunch prepared by Senior Center volunteers.

Make A Difference Day is a national day of service that unites the DePauw campus and PutnamCounty in an effort to help those in need.

Make A Difference Day is the most encompassing national day of service -- a celebration of neighbors helping neighbors. Make A Difference Day celebrates the power of cooperation and service along with an estimated 2 million other volunteers nation-wide. It is an annual event that takes place on the fourth Saturday of October. Each year a new project is planned by the Make A Difference Day Civic Intern. This Intern is encouraged to consider the mission of the event, community needs, and their personal interests and passions, among other things. An important element of Make A Difference Day is involving the entire community; both DePauw and Greencastle.
