The Civic Intern Program is focused on developing DePauw student's leadership and volunteer management skills. As Civic Interns, students are assigned a variety of responsibilities and tasks in all aspects of program development, from recruiting and supervising volunteers to fundraising and publicity for events and activities.
Our Program:
The Hartman House has a commitment to developing student leaders such as the Civic Interns, who meet during a one-hour seminar to discuss their projects and learn skills to help meet challenges of running volunteer programming. The seminar is focused on developing leadership skills such as strategic planning, teamwork, and time management. Interns also work regularly scheduled office hours at the Hartman House each week.
Civic Interns are selected each year by a committee of Civic Interns and Hartman House staff. The Civic Intern Program began in 1995 with two students. Currently, there are over fifteen student leaders serving as Civic Interns.
