Make A Difference Day is a national day of service that unites the DePauw campus and PutnamCounty in an effort to help those in need.
Make A Difference Day is the most encompassing national day of service -- a celebration of neighbors helping neighbors. Make A Difference Day celebrates the power of cooperation and service along with an estimated 2 million other volunteers nation-wide. It is an annual event that takes place on the fourth Saturday of October. Each year a new project is planned by the Make A Difference Day Civic Intern. This Intern is encouraged to consider the mission of the event, community needs, and their personal interests and passions, among other things. An important element of Make A Difference Day is involving the entire community; both DePauw and Greencastle.

National Youth Service Day seeks to mobilize the youth of PutnamCounty to identify and address the needs of their communities through service.
National Youth Service Day, takes place the second or third weekend in April and is a public awareness and education campaign that highlights the positive contributions that young people make to their communities throughout. As the largest service event in the world, it mobilizes millions of young people to address the needs of their communities, and educates the public, the media, and policymakers about the year-round contributions of young people as community leaders. Young people around the world design and lead service-learning projects in areas ranging from literacy and the environment, to healthcare, hunger, and help for the elderly. At DePauw, a project is organized by the National Youth Service Day Civic Intern. This Intern is encouraged to consider the mission of the event, community needs, interests of the youth who will be participating in the event, and their personal interests and passions, among other things.
Co-Motion is a competition with Wabash College to raise awareness and funds to benefit local domestic violence shelters.
The Co-Motion project was developed by an alumnus of Wabash College who wanted to see the rivalry between Wabash and DePauw in a more positive light. DePauw’s Hartman House joins with Wabash ’s Community Taskforce to focus on performing service projects and raising funds for and awareness of domestic violence issues. The fundraiser also has a raffle at the Monon Bell football game, with half of the money going to the winning school and half to the Family Crisis Shelter of Crawfordsville and the Julian Center in Indianapolis.
