	DePauw Community Service (DCS) strives to make a positive and lasting impact in the community by offering opportunities for committed and passionate direct service.

Each semester, approximately 300 of DePauw’s 2,300 students register for at least one of the nearly 30 student-led volunteer programs that make up DePauw Community Service (DCS).  DePauw students provide needed assistance throughout Putnam county while they confront social issues through direct service.  Student volunteers serve in schools, shelters, nursing homes, and a variety of other community agencies.  Over the years, DePauw’s volunteer programs have gained national recognition, including being named the 592nd Point of Light by President George Bush in 1991. Based in the Hartman House, the student leaders of DCS coordinate publicity, recruitment and training for nearly 30 volunteer programs.
