A unique and memorable event, the Oxfam America Hunger Banquet, allows organizers and participants alike to experience firsthand how our decisions affect others in the world. After an Oxfam America Hunger Banquet, few participants leave with full stomachs, but all possess a greater understanding of the problems of hunger and poverty and will hopefully be motivated to do something about them.
What is Oxfam? Oxfam America is an international relief and development organization that creates lasting solutions to poverty, hunger, and injustice. Together with individuals and local groups in more than 120 countries, Oxfam saves lives, helps people overcome poverty, and fights for social justice.
The 2nd Annual DePauw Hunger Banquet will take place on Wednesday, November 14, 2007 from 4:30 - 6:30 PM in the UB Ballroom. Anyone wishing to attend this event should register via evite invitation. This event is open to the entire DePauw community and all residents of Putnam County. While everyone is welcome, children under 14 will probably not enjoy the same experience as older teens and adults. You can email depauwhungerbanquet@gmail.com with any questions.
This event is planned by Hartman House Community Outreach Intern Kate Ziegelgruber, with the assistance of High School Intern Kayla Green (North Putnam).
