Pre-departure - Course Credit

Many off-campus study programs have courses based on a credit hour (semester hour) system.  For example, one course is worth 4 credit hours (semester hours).  For these programs, every 4 credit hours (semester hours) is worth 1 DePauw credit. 
e.g.,      program class is 4 credit hours = 1 DePauw credit
            program class is 3 credit hours = .75 DePauw credit
            program class is 2 credit hours = .5 DePauw credit

Other programs have different credit amounts, many of which have no obvious mathematical formula.  Many of the programs are listed here, but if you do not see your program and have questions about how much credit you will earn, please contact the Office of International Education & Off-Campus Study in the Durham House.

5 Cork credits = 2.5 semester hours = .5 DPU credit (plus a fractional quarter credit)
Two 5-credit Cork modules will transfer to DPU as 1.25 credits (counted as .5 credit for one course and .75 for the other).   If you are counting a Cork 5-credit course towards a major or minor, the .75 portion will go toward your major/minor (and be considered a full course for those purposes) and the .5 portion (from an elective course) will go toward elective credit
10 Cork credits = 1.25 DPU credits
15 Cork credits = 1.75 DPU credits with fractional quarter credit left over
20 Cork credits=2.5 DPU credits
30 total Cork credits (recommended load) = 3.75 DPU credits
35 total Cork credits (maximum allowable per semester) = 4.25 DPU credits
