International students and scholars, in growing numbers, are bringing their own experience of the world to the DePauw University community while enjoying the many benefits that a DePauw education has to offer. The Office of International Education and Off-Campus study, located in the Durham house, assists them in understanding immigration laws and procedures that may apply, ensuring that they arrive in the United States with the appropriate visa for their career at DePauw. Every staff member in the Durham House is available to answer questions and provide support to international students, faculty and staff. The Associate Director serves as the international student advisor, and coordinates comprehensive support services, including:

  • Preparing necessary immigration documents for students, faculty and staff, and helping with any immigration problems.
  • Coordinating transportation, temporary lodging and housing.
  • Facilitating an orientation for newly arrived international students, which includes information on banking, student life, shopping for room necessities, health care issues and obtaining medical insurance.
  • Working with academic advisors, tutors and professors.
  • Assisting students with on- and off-campus employment and financial aid.
  • Responding to personal emergencies.
  • Advising the International Student Association.
  • Collaborating with other student services offices, including the Office of Multicultural Affairs, and the Office of Spiritual Life.
  • Collaborating with academic departments and support services, including the Academic Resource Center and the Advising Committee.
