ATTENTION! Incoming members of the DePauw Class of 2012:

Required arrival date: Saturday, August 16, 2008 for the beginning of International Student Orientation. Ideal arrival times are between 9:00am-4:00pm EST, or as early in the day as possible. All international students are required to participate in International Student Orientation. Transportation from the Indianapolis International Airport to DePauw will be provided for students arriving on August 16, 2008. Shuttles are planned for 1:30 pm, 5:30 pm, 8:30 pm and 11:00 pm.  They will depart promptly from the Ground Transportation area of the Indianapolis International Airport. 

Students who have deposited should receive an Arrival Packet in the mail during mid-late May. This packet includes the I-20 student status document for F-1 nonimmigrant status or the DS-2019 document for J-1 exchange student status.

International students and scholars, in growing numbers, are bringing their own experience of the world to the DePauw University community while enjoying the many benefits that a DePauw education has to offer. The Center for International and Experiential Education , located in the Durham house, assists them in understanding immigration laws and procedures that may apply, ensuring that they arrive in the United States with the appropriate visa for their career at DePauw. Every staff member in the Durham House is available to answer questions and provide support to international students, faculty and staff. Loutfi Jirari and Aliza Frame serve as International student advisors, and coordinate comprehensive support services, including:

  • Preparing necessary immigration documents for students, faculty and staff, and helping with any immigration problems.
  • Coordinating transportation, temporary lodging and housing.
  • Facilitating an orientation for newly arrived international students, which includes information on banking, student life, shopping for room necessities, health care issues and obtaining medical insurance.
  • Working with academic advisors, tutors and professors.
  • Assisting students with on- and off-campus employment and financial aid.
  • Responding to personal emergencies.
  • Advising the International Student Association.
  • Collaborating with other student services offices, including the Office of Multicultural Affairs, and the Office of Spiritual Life.
  • Collaborating with academic departments and support services, including the Academic Resource Center and the Advising Committee.
