Cultural Connections

Through Cultural Connections, international and study abroad students srepresenting a variety of cultures will visit Putnam County schools and community organizations to offer a first hand glimpse at life in another country to children and adults. Through these presentations, DePauw students help to build a deeper understanding of the value of worldwide education, cooperation, and communication. International and study abroad students participate in a variety of different kinds of events, ranging from individualized presentations that they specifically design for their various audiences, to setting up exhibits for multicultural and international festivals at schools throughout Putnam County. Speakers share artifacts, pictures, videos, stories, games, crafts, music and native attire.

These presentations also serve the important purpose of outreach to both domestic and international students and community members throughout Putnam County community. What better way is there to reach future DePauw University students than by showing them from a very young age the diversity that our campus has to offer? Cultural Connections will be valuable recruiting tools for DePauw as well as providing educational opportunities for children, community members, and international students alike.
