Office of the President

Welcome to DePauw

Robert BottomsDePauw University is poised at a time of great opportunity. As new international challenges and economic developments drive change in our world, DePauw’s historic liberal arts mission and core academic strengths position us to respond with creativity and vigor. Educating young men and women to innovate and seek new knowledge, to assume productive roles in the world economy, and to provide leadership in public service have always been our strengths. In addition, our ongoing commitment to educate students who will live their lives and serve others with a strong moral and ethical foundation is more important than ever.

Securing Our Legacy serves as our catalyst for improvement. Our comprehensive strategic plan defines our core values and it establishes our goals for the coming years. To fulfill the promise of Securing our Legacy, we continue to pursue specific initiatives as our highest priorities.

We will continue to enhance our diverse learning and living environment to encourage academic excellence and greater student engagement in the learning process. Leading our students to greater achievement are DePauw’s faculty members who are outstanding scholars and gifted teachers. We also support learning through the innovative use of instructional technologies and digital resources that have led to our recognition as one of the nation’s most wired campuses. The new Judson and Joyce Green Center for the Performing Arts provides new facilities for our vibrant programs in the School of Music and theatre. Throughout our curriculum we are focusing on global perspectives and ethics as critical underpinnings of the preparation we offer undergraduates. The Janet Prindle Institute for Ethics supports research and instruction across the curriculum. And we continue to seek innovative ways to involve our graduates in the life of the University, through programs in their communities and exciting intellectual discussions on campus.
