An Invitation

from R. David Hoover, Chair, DePauw University Board of Trustees

R. David Hoover, Chair, DePauw University Board of TrusteesGreetings to each of you from the Board of Trustees! My colleagues and I are very excited about the renewed sense of energy and optimism the University community has exhibited since Brian W. Casey's appointment as DePauw's19th president was announced in February. Now that Dr. Casey has begun his duties and the academic year is well underway, the trustees are looking forward to returning to campus so we might celebrate this new era of leadership with you.

We invite you to join us at the Inaugural Ceremony on Friday, October 10 at 4 p.m. on the Holton Memorial Quadrangle lawn. Programming on days preceding the installation will commemorate this institution's 171 years of eminence in the academic world. Uncommon Success: DePauw in the World will be a weeklong (October 6-11) tribute to DePauw past, present and future, and guests from around the country will join us for a wide variety of enlightening and fun-filled events leading up to the pomp and circumstance of the inauguration ceremony on the 10th.

Please note, University offices will close at 3:30 p.m. that day (with the exception of those requiring emergency staffing), so as many employees as possible may witness the investiture of our new president.

Festivities will not end there, however, as many of our traditional Old Gold Weekend activities will then get underway--along with some added surprises! In the coming weeks, you will want to check back frequently, to keep abreast with plans for Uncommon Success: DePauw in the World as they evolve.

It has been almost a quarter century since the University community welcomed a new president into its midst, and I believe it is important for each of us to take part in this important milestone. I'll see you then!
