Focus the Nation will be the largest teach-in American history. On January 31st, 2008, students, teachers, business and community leaders, politicians, and everyday citizens will gather on campuses across the country to participate in a non-partisan, interdisciplinary global warming superbowl of academic discussions, community-based meetings, workshops, and political forums. The goal is simple: Raise awareness—and do so right at the heart of the 2008 presidential primaries.
The FTN network is growing fast. Over 1,000 colleges, universities, and high schools are already preparing to do their part. This initiative has the potential to reach millions of Americans, who can then finally apply real political pressure to the catalysis of substantive environmental legislation and energy policy reform.
Focus the Nation is lead by Eban Goodstein, Professor of Economics at Lewis and Clark University (Portland, OR) and is advised by leading figures in the environmental field, including David Orr (Oberlin College) and Van Jones.
