About WGRE
Welcome to the "Voice of DePauw" -- WGRE Radio!

WGRE has a long and distinguished history of providing radio service to the DePauw and west central Indiana communities. In addition to providing entertainment, news and sports to the listeners, WGRE has provided both media and leadership experience for thousands of DePauw students. Many of these students have used the experience to enter the professional media world. But for most WGRE students, the opportunity to work in student media allows them to gain a better insight to mass communication processes, both in entertainment and information. Thus, WGRE clearly provides a liberal arts experience for all staffers.

WGRE is a completely student run radio station which operates 24 hours a day with a total semester staff of approximately 150 students. WGRE programs primarily alternative music. We provide specialty music shows to cover a wide range of tastes and interests. Specialty shows in recent semesters have included jazz, classical, R&B, classic rock, country, hip hop, techno, international music, Latino music, ska, punk, dance and heavy metal. WGRE is the voice of Tiger Sports, including football, basketball, and selected baseball, softball, and soccer games. News and public affairs are also important in WGRE's lineup. WGRE newscasters air newscasts throughout the day covering national, state, local and campus news. WGRE also offers a public affairs show for community members to learn from and express their opinions. WGRE also broadcasts selected convocations.

WGRE has been recognized in recent years for excellence in broadcasting. Awarding agencies have included the National Association of Broadcasters, the National Association of College Broadcasters, Indiana Associate Press Broadcasters, the Indiana Press Club, and region 7 of the Society of Professional Journalists. In addition, WGRE has been rated as a Top Ten campus radio station for the last four years by the PRINCETON REVIEW, a college ratings book. Currently WGRE holds the No. 3 position. So, when you listen to WGRE, you are listening to a quality radio station.
