Tara Cuprisin ’01

Director, BMO Sponsor Finance

Ms. Cuprisin grew up in Hamilton, Montana and graduated from DePauw University in 2001 with a major in Economics and minor in Spanish. Ms. Cuprisin later went on to complete her MBA at the University of Chicago’s Booth School of Business with concentrations in Finance and Accounting.

During Ms. Cuprisin’s time at DePauw, Ms. Cuprisin was an active member of the Management Fellows Program, the golf team, Kappa Kappa Gamma, and several other academic and volunteer organizations.

After graduating from DePauw, Ms. Cuprisin moved to Chicago, IL and joined BMO Harris Bank’s Relationship Management Development Training Program. Ms. Cuprisin then spent one year in a generalist lending group and six years in the bank’s Food & Consumer Group, focused on financings for public and private middle-market food companies across the Unites States.

In 2010, Ms. Cuprisin joined the bank’s newly formed Sponsor Finance Group. BMO Sponsor Finance provides capital to portfolio companies of private equity firms for mergers and acquisitions, leveraged buyouts, recapitalizations, dividends, and growth capital. As a senior member of the Sponsor Finance team, Ms. Cuprisin is responsible for originating new opportunities with the private equity firms she covers, underwriting and syndicating new deals, managing her portfolio of existing deals, and cross selling other products within the bank.

Ms. Cuprisin lives in Columbus, OH with her husband Andy (’99) and their two daughters Molly (age 9) and Emelyn (age 4). Ms. Cuprisin has been an active volunteer and fundraiser with The Childhood League, where she served most recently as the Finance Chair. In her free time, Ms. Cuprisin enjoys spending time with her family, golfing, running, and boating.


         

Johnny Buchta ’08

Vice President, BMO Sponsor Finance 

Mr. Buchta grew up in St. Charles, Illinois and graduated from DePauw University in 2008 with a major in Economics and minor in Spanish. During his time at DePauw, he was an active member of the Management Fellows Program, Alpha Tau Omega, rugby player, and several other academic and volunteer organizations. 

After graduating from DePauw, Mr. Buchta moved to Chicago and joined BMO Capital Markets Commercial Analyst Development Program. He then spent two years in BMO’s Industrial Group, focused on financings for public and private middle-market industrial businesses across the United States. 

In 2010, Mr. Buchta joined the bank’s newly formed Sponsor Finance Group. BMO Sponsor Finance provides capital to portfolio companies of private equity firms for mergers and acquisitions, leveraged buyouts, recapitalizations, dividends, and growth capital. In mid-2016, Mr. Buchta took a year long hiatus from BMO to travel the world and try his hand at small business, before ultimately rejoining BMO in August 2017 as a Vice President in Sponsor Finance. As a senior member of the Sponsor Finance team, he is responsible for originating new opportunities with the private equity firms he covers, underwriting and syndicating new deals, managing a portfolio of existing deals, and cross selling other products within the bank.

Mr. Buchta lives in Glen Ellyn, IL with his wife Kyle (’10). They are expecting their first child in April 2018. Mr. Buchta has remained active with DePauw since his graduation through board positions on GOLD Council and Hubbard Fellows. In his free time, he enjoys traveling, golfing, and all things Chicago Cubs and Green Bay Packers.
