As senior counselor, Wendi Taylor Nations brings over 25 years of experience translating business strategy into marketing strategy, integrating all marketing tools to promote and protect the brand, and engaging audiences that can influence a brand’s success to achieve business objectives. Wendi’s issues and crisis management work spans multiple industries and situations, including drug-related patient deaths and subsequent FDA recall actions; gang-related violence and police actions; multiple fatality public transportation accidents; company leadership malfeasance; and change of control.

Before partnering with Hawthorne, Wendi was chief marketing officer for World Business Chicago (WBC), Mayor Rahm Emanuel’s organization that drives Chicago’s global economic development. At WBC, Wendi managed a variety of marketing imperatives that focus on bringing jobs to and developing jobs in Chicago, technology community advancement, and global visibility to drive foreign direct investment. Under her leadership, LinkedIn, Google, Salesforce, Facebook and many others chose Chicago as their Midwest location.

Wendi’s additional experience includes senior roles at FleishmanHillard, Porter Novelli, Hill + Knowlton and Heidrick & Struggles.

Wendi has a Master of Business Administration degree in marketing from the Kellogg School of Management at Northwestern University and a Bachelor of Arts degree in English composition from DePauw University.

Wendi lives in Chicago with her CNBC contributor and author husband, Scott Nations, and their herd of rescue animals.
