For the last 100 years, Russia and other Slavic countries have played a great, and often times adversarial, role in world politics and relationships. Their influence on history, culture, religion and economics has shaped the way we live, think and delegate today.
DePauw educates students of distinction and influence who can intelligently address the issues of today. As a Russian Studies major, you will learn the fullness of the impact of Soviet Russia on history and the current role Russia plays in contemporary geopolitics, economics and other vital issues. Become a critical analyzer of your country and Russia, beginning with the interdisciplinary study of Russian language, literature and culture, with related courses in Central and Eastern European history, culture, literature, film and theater. In addition to your courses, you will be encouraged to take your studies and language learning abroad to Russia and other Slavic countries through an approved study abroad program.
