John Schlotterbeck

A. W. Crandall Professor of History

Professor John Schlotterbeck came to DePauw in 1978 after studying at Johns Hopkins and the University of Michigan and teaching at Oberlin. He covers a range of courses in American history, including “American Experience: The West,” ”American Experience: Race Relations,” “Founding of United States Civilization,”;”Nineteenth Century US,” “Africa and the Black Diaspora,” “History Beyond the Classroom,” “Civil War and Reconstruction,””Internship in Public History,” and “Family and Community in the US,” a quantitative reasoning course which is cross-listed in women’s studies.  His interests also include folklore, and the history of the American popular song.
