Shakespeare in the Park: Much Ado About Nothing

Theta Gardens, Green Center for the Performing Arts

Join us in the beautiful Theta Gardens for one of William Shakespeare's most beloved comedies! Set in a post-war society, adversaries Benedick and Beatrice find themselves in the middle of an elaborate plot to push them towards each other, while lovers Claudio and Hero are unknowingly amidst a ploy to tear them apart. With schemes, lies, and plenty of jokes, Much Ado About Nothing brings something for everyone. Join us for a free cookout sponsored by the theatre faculty at 6:00 in the Gardens, followed by the five-act performance at 7:00.


Insomniac 24-Hour Theatre Festival

With 24 hours to write, stage, and memorize a performance, the possibilities are endless in Insomniac Theater! Participants are given an object, a character, and a catchphrase and must work them into a short performance that is sure to split sides! Each performance is one of a kind and ranges from parodies of beloved classics to critiques of modern society!


Performing Arts Series presents Actors From the London Stage: Twelfth Night

Each year the Actors From The London Stage (AFTLS) cast a touring company from among Britain’s finest actors to bring to American colleges and universities a lively text-centered production of two of Shakespeare’s most well- known plays. This fall the AFTLS will be touring Twelfth Night, Shakespeare’s  comedy of mistaken identity whose protagonist Viola must disguise herself as a man to woo the moody  noblewoman Olivia for the melancholy Duke Orsino, but finds herself in a love triangle complicated by gender confusion. Using only five actors who each play multiple roles, the AFTLS company is famous for its robust physical and vocal performances of Shakespeare’s works.

Twelve Angry Men

A modern retelling of Reginald Rose's courtroom classic. When a young man's life is on the line, twelve jurors must carefully sift through the evidence to determine his verdict. But not everyone plays fair, and the truth isn't always what people want to hear. Directors Noelle Johnson and Christopher Douglas present: Twelve Angry Men.
 

Playwrights Festival

Alpha Psi Omega's annual Playwrights Festival is an opportunity to cultivate and showcase DePauw's wide range of talented artists through playwrighting, directing, acting, and technical skill. This festival is open to the DePauw community to workshop and premiere short, 15-minute plays.
