GIS Day 2018

GIS Day is a global event that celebrates Geographic Information Systems (GIS) technology. Its goal is to make people aware of this innovative technology that untilizes geography to bring numerous benefits to the world and to highlight the important contributions that GIS is making in the fields of science, technology, information, and the humanities.

Join us as we celebrate GIS Day 2018 at DePauw. DePauw's event will showcase student, faculty, and staff GIS projects as well as introduce GIS concepts via posters, multimedia displays, and interactive activities.

This event is free and open to the public.

Humans, 97% Orangutan - Lisa Smith, Senior Keeper, Indianapolis Zoo

Lisa Smith is a senior keeper of Orangutans at the Indianapolis Zoo and will speak on everything Orangutan, including day to day care, research, Species Survival Plans, training and much more.

The Secret History of Plants - Mike Stockman, Horticulturist, Indianapolis Zoo

Mike Stockman is a Horticulturist at the Indianapolis Zoo and will speak about his day to day care of plants, bee keeping, being an APHIS rescue center for smuggled plants caught at our borders, and accessioning plants that is vital to staying accredited as a botanical garden plus much more.

Lady Bird (2017) -- Film Studies Film Series Screening (Ashley Square Cinema)

Christine "Lady Bird" MacPherson (Saoirse Ronan) is a high school senior from the "wrong side of the tracks." She longs for adventure, sophistication, and opportunity, but finds none of that in her Sacramento Catholic high school. This Academy Award nominated film focuses on the title character's senior year in high school, including her first romance, her participation in the school play, her relationship with her mother (Laurie Metlcalf), and, most importantly, her applying for college.

Free and open to the public at Ashley Square Cinema.
