Vaccination Status: DePauw has allowed for medical and religious exemptions to its COVID-19 vaccination requirement, so these numbers will not reflect a 100% campus vaccination rate. 

On campus: Includes students in residence on campus, as well as employees who have been on campus within 4 weeks prior to the positive diagnosis. None of the above results include remote students. 

Isolation: The number of isolation spaces on campus will remain constant.

*Campus Status Descriptions

The DePauw Mitigation Team will monitor Putnam County levels of COVID-19 prevalence as well as Campus Status of COVID-19 spread. Depending upon these factors, the Mitigation Team makes on-campus recommendations and will either increase or decrease mitigation strategies appropriately.

Campus Status Blue

The Blue Campus Status indicates that COVID-19 is contained on our campus. Blue Status is indicated when individual cases of COVID-19 occur infrequently, at a rate of two or fewer new cases every two weeks among students with no continuing chains of transmission on campus. The campus is open to employees, students, and guests. Periodic ongoing testing will be conducted on unvaccinated individuals. Contact tracing protocols are timely, effective, and functioning to minimize spread. Our campus community may be asked to use basic health precautions (Personal hygiene strategies, masking in indoor groups of 50 or more and masking in academic spaces) as necessary to maintain a healthy campus. 

Campus Status Yellow

The Yellow Campus Status indicates that COVID-19 is managed on our campus. Yellow Status is indicated when cases of COVID-19 occur in well-defined clusters on our campus. The campus is open to employees, students, and guests. Ongoing testing will be conducted on unvaccinated individuals. Contact tracing protocols are timely, effective, and functioning to minimize spread. Our campus community may be asked to use additional health precautions (Personal hygiene strategies, masking in indoor groups of 50 or more, additional physical distancing recommended at events and gatherings, masking in academic spaces, and hybrid or virtual meetings made available) as necessary to minimize potential transmission. 

Campus Status Orange

The Orange Campus Status indicates that COVID-19 is managed on our campus, but cases of COVID-19 are not confined to well-defined clusters on our campus.  The campus is open to employees and students with guests limited to purposeful, invited visits. Increased ongoing testing will be conducted on unvaccinated individuals and may be extended to vaccinated individuals. Contact tracing protocols are timely, effective, and functioning to minimize spread. Our campus community may be asked to use additional health precautions (Personal hygiene strategies, masking in indoor groups of 25 or more, additional physical distancing recommended at events and gatherings, masking in academic spaces, and hybrid or virtual meetings encouraged) as necessary to minimize potential transmission. 

Campus Status Red 

The Red Campus Status indicates that there are significant numbers of COVID-19 positive cases on our campus and they are not confined to well-defined clusters. The campus is open to employees and students only. Increased surveillance testing will be conducted on all individuals. Contact tracing protocols require additional staffing to remain timely, effective, and functioning to minimize spread. Our campus community may be required to use additional health precautions (Personal hygiene strategies, masking in indoor groups of any size, additional physical distancing required, eliminations of events and gatherings, masking in academic spaces with the possibility of remote instruction, and hybrid or virtual meetings required) as necessary to minimize potential transmission.   

Campus Status Purple

The Purple Campus Status indicates that there are significant increases of COVID-19 positive cases on our campus. Purple Status is indicated when cases of COVID-19 widespread on our campus. The campus is open to employees and students for basic necessities. Surveillance testing will be conducted on all individuals.  Contact tracing protocols require additional staffing to remain effective. Our campus community will be required to use additional health precautions (Personal hygiene strategies, masking in indoor groups of any size, additional physical distancing required, eliminations of events and gatherings, remote instruction, and hybrid or virtual meetings required) as necessary to minimize potential transmission.
