Campus COVID-19 Status Change to Orange November 15

Dear DePauw Students, Faculty and Staff,

Over the last several days we experienced an increase in the number of positive COVID-19 cases on campus. We are appreciative that these students reported their symptoms to University staff however many delayed seeking assistance at the onset of their symptoms, attributing their symptoms to a cold or allergies. Please continue to be vigilant with personal symptom tracking, and choose to stay home and immediately report your symptoms to DePauw Health Wellness Center.

Anyone who is experiencing symptoms of COVID-19 should contact DePauw Health Wellness Center at 765-658-4555 to schedule an appointment with a provider.

As indicated on the COVID-19 Dashboard, we are moving our campus status to Orange as a result of these disconnected cases: “The Orange Campus Status indicates that COVID-19 is managed on our campus, but cases of COVID-19 are not confined to well-defined clusters on our campus.” Please note that this status includes required masking during indoor gatherings larger than 25.

It is important to continue mitigation strategies such as masking and distancing where appropriate, immediately reporting your symptoms, wiping surfaces, and proper hand washing. With many individuals traveling for the Thanksgiving break, there is a heightened risk of spread to and from campus. Drop in testing is available this week (MWF 10:30am-12:30pm and TTh 7:30am-9:30am) and next week (Mon 10:30am-12:30pm and Tues 7:30am-9:30am) for any asymptomatic students, faculty or staff. Following Thanksgiving break, we will again offer drop-in asymptomatic testing (MWF 10:30am to 12:30pm and TTh 7:30am to 9:30am). All drop in asymptomatic testing will be held in Lilly Center room 2029.

COVID-19 vaccine boosters are now available to our community. For more information regarding boosters click here, and to schedule an appointment locally, click here.

We hope that you will each continue to embody the Tigers Take Care motto by taking steps to help prevent the spread of viruses and illness and looking out for the health and safety of our campus community.

Best,

COVID-19 Mitigation Team
