Dear DePauw Students and Employees,
We are truly excited to begin another term as Tigers and welcome many of you back to Greencastle. The COVID-19 Task Force, in collaboration with the Health and Safety Pod, has updated the Health Recommendations and Requirements for winter and spring terms. In particular, we hope the updated information provides clear expectations of campus life while providing a bit more flexibility for ‘life to return to campus.’ While we know the virus that causes COVID-19 is more pervasive and widespread than last term, the Student Academic Life team and all student-facing offices are dedicated to working within our guidelines while providing important student services and social opportunities.
We encourage you to read the entire document/website in detail. Several items of note are included below.
-
Masking requirements and distancing policies remain.
-
All resident and commuter students who have not already done so must complete the COVID-19 educational components, and should prepare their personal medical kit and keep a ‘go kit’ in preparation for potential isolation.
-
A new section includes our previously communicated policies on the flu vaccine.
-
There have been changes to the events and gatherings section, and Student Academic Life has been charged with the creation of more campus-wide events and student gathering locations across campus. More information on these items is forthcoming.
-
A new section includes our policy on students in living units other than their own.
-
Residence sleeping arrangements include the possibility for double rooms in the spring term under specific circumstances.
-
The intercollegiate athletics section includes the current guidelines being followed by all athletic teams.
-
Office expectations have been updated to include a recommendation to schedule in teams, a more flexible policy for safe, in-person, masked meetings as needed, and the removal of building traffic patterns.
-
Business related travel includes updated information regarding on-campus or community travel of multiple individuals in a vehicle.
Thanks for your careful attention to this information. We’ll continue to live our mantra of Tigers Take Care and rely on each DePauw community member to act with your fellow students, faculty, and staff in mind and set the gold standard for those around them. We succeed as a campus, together. Please join me in making 2021 another incredible year at DePauw.
Sincerely,
Alan P. Hill
Vice President for Student Academic Life and Dean of Students
